Dancing With The Stars

"On with the dance!
Let joy be unconfined."
Lord Byron

Did you watch Dancing with the Stars last night? Yesterday was another one of my strange, wild adventures. My niece loves to get tickets to events and usually asks me to take her along.  She called last last week to say I have tickets for this Monday's taping are you free. This would be I believe our 5th time going.  It is really a all day event. My friend Jan came alone for the adventure (this was her 3rd time). She arrived at my house at 9:30 am and we promptly left to pick up my niece in Chino at 10:00. We were off to Los Angeles. Of course in true LA style we had to have a little traffic due to a nice accident. After passing firetrucks and paramedics we were back on our way. We arrived at Farmer Market shortly after 11:00.

Farmers Market is a very famous landmark in Los Angeles. There are many  places to eat and shop inside. They sell some of the most beautiful looking fruits and vegetables. Along with meat markets, bakery's and candy shops. Next to the Farmers Market is the Grove, a very upscale shopping area. Many stars are known to to spotted shopping there. After a lunch at Johnny Rockets we walked next door to the CBS studios. Yes I know DWTS is ABC but they tape at CBS. We got in line at 1:00 pm and were numbers 78, 79 & 80. Now to help you understand we got to the sidewalk to stand and wait in line until we go in around 3:30. Since we have done this before we usually take trash bags to sit on so we can throw them away. This years my friends husband was getting rid of two chairs and Jan said no we will take those with us. There is always some person renting seats. This year a young man was selling cold water bottles and renting seats for $5.00. Afterwards we gave him the seats. At tonights taping he will make $10.00 renting them out.

My niece is sitting on the ground and I am standing in the salmon colored sweater.

These pictures were taken right after we got there because shortly after the line keep growing. There was over 200 in line waiting to get in. Not everyone gets in so that is why we got there so early. Waiting in line is a show in it's self. Some come really dressed up. If you think that is a tight small outfit standing there you should have seen some of the other outfits these girls squeezed themselves into. I do believe one of them was a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas (OK maybe not, but in her dress she could have been). Around 3:15 they started letting us in, first checking our ID's and then getting our purses looked through and walking through a detector. All this to get in order on some benches to wait until about 4:30. We use to go in and sit in chairs now with this new set all the fans who waited in line got to go to third balcony and stand for 2 hours. This show really has way too many VIP's that take up all the seats.

It was a nice show and I really liked watching my "All My Children" actor R J Martinez dance. He is the war veteran that got burned when his vehicle ran over a bomb in Iraq. All My Children did a piece on veterans and really liked him so he did a few segments. He was so liked he became a regular cast member.

After the taping they asked us to stay to tape a song to be aired at a later date. We are not sure if that is tonight or not. Our special guest was Susan Boyle. She sang a number with two of the dancers. We got to hear her do it twice. That part was really nice because most of the VIP's left so they moved us down to chairs. After that they moved us all to one side and taped some shots for tonight's pre-show. You might find one of us standing in the balcony during that part. It was after 8:00 pm when we got out of there. By the time I dropped off my niece and got back home it was 9:30. It was a twelve hour day to see a two hour taping.  You couldn't take any pictures inside so all I could do was tell you about it.

I think next time I will stay home and stitch.

Always keep love in your stitches,
Teresa

Oh my goodness, that is a lot of standing around and waiting but it does sound like a fun day. I would have loved to hear Susan Boyle -- what a fabulous voice.

When I lived in CA and visited LA the Farmers Market was always a favorite place to eat and shop - good memories. Rest up today!

What a lot of effort for a two hour taping! I find it amazing that you've been so many times - for me that would be a once in a lifetime thing!

Glad you had fun! You must have seen lots of famous people there.

To hear Susan Boyle sing was a treat in itself.
