I'm Finally Here

"Adventure must start with running away from home"
William Bolitho

I am finally here and I do feel like I ran away from home. I arrived in beautiful Massachusetts yesterday morning. First thing I did was get my rental car and head off on an adventure. I put in a destination in my navigation device and headed off. OK Boston was confusing and my navigator had to recalculate a  couple of times but I was on my way and no one to account too.

My first stop was at a rest stop. I was looking for one of the hotel coupon books. It was the nicest rest stop I had seen. The had the cutest gift shop inside. I found out that the town I was in was the birthplace of Johnny Appleseed. Each guest at the rest stop got a free apple.

Johnny Appleseed

The leaves are just starting to change here and I so enjoyed just driving through the state. I saw on the drive a large field of pumpkins. That really made me feel like fall. I was on a county road and saw a sign for a farmer's market that was starting in just a few minutes so I just had to stop. I parked the car and looked what I parked in front of. I have always loved Victorian homes.

This one was across the street from the market.

Here is the farmers market, OK I know it was small, only about 10 booths.

I enjoyed just looking at all the fruits and vegetables. I just had to buy a small pumpkin. Will use it to decorate my room at the retreat. When I was talking to the lady who sold it to me I told her I had just arrived from California this morning and she said we were at the airport dropping off their daughter going to California. I was starting to get hungry and there was a booth selling homemade bagels. I just had to try the pumpkin one with cream cheese.  I will just say delicious.

Later down the road was the cutest decorated fruit stand.

I just love the big Mums they have on the east coast. I just bought a post card here.

I was heading to the town of Deerfield. Yankee Candle has one of their two flagship stores there. On the way I stopped at a country store and a chocolate store (yes I got a couple of vanilla creams). Here is a couple of shots at the candle store. I tried to take a picture to show just how big the place was.

All along the building was these hanging mums. They must have been 4 feet wide.

I was really starting to get tired and hungry by now. About 20 miles away was my favorite place to stop while travling, a Cracker Barrel restaurant and gift shop. I stopped and had a wonderful meal. Afterwards I was so tired I just wanted to find a hotel. I had only managed a couple of hours sleep on the plane. I checked into a hotel about 4 and I can tell you by 5:30 I was dead to the world. I sleep so good that it is now 5:00 am so I am up reading blogs and typing ths.

Not real sure what today will bring. I have a couple of craft shops in mind and another country store. Mainly I enjoy just driving thru small towns. Will let you know what interesting I find on my adventure today.

Alway keep love in your stitches,
Teresa
