Experiment

"Do what you can, with what you have,
where you are."
Theodore Roosevelt

I am thinking of doing something that requires a lot of fabric, but will only take a little stitch area. For example a tablecloth and only stitching the corners. I don't want to buy 3 yards of an expensive stitching linen. So I went to my local fabric shop and bought some regular linen material. As an experiment I tried stitching this small rabbit from Britain's Cross Stitcher magazine April issue.

I don't think it came out too bad. Not sure now what I will do with it. Maybe make an ornament or something. I was wondering if any of you have stitched on regular material and if you have any other suggestions.

Always keep love in your stitches,
Teresa

That is just the cutest bunny! I think it's a great idea to use "regular linen" if it works - it looks nice!

you are so ambitious! You should bottle and sell your energy. This would also be a great idea for a tree skirt.

Such a cute bunny and flowers. I haven't stitched on linen (regular or special) but yours worked very well

Wow, I love that bunny!

For the moment I have only stitched in Aida cloth, but I will try linen soon.

Maybe you can do a tote with it.

That bunny is adorable! I think it would look great as a part of an easter box, on top of it or around it?! Maybe?! That's great to know you can stitch on regular linen. I always considered it when I went into the fabric store but thought that it might not work. I like your idea of a tablecloth!

The bunny looks great! I've never even thought of using regular linen, but if the finished product looks like that then go for it!
